Over 8 years now in the Twin Cities music scene, Gel continues to deliver the fun alternative music and driving hard rock they have been known for. Their addictive on-stage energy, diverse musicianship, sound samples, and ever-constant humor have made them one of the most sought after groups in the area. Voted “Best Rock Band” in the 2002 City Pages, and nominated for “Best Cover Band” in the 2003 Minnesota Music Awards, Gel have proven themselves as a band to be noticed.
Original members Jim (bass guitar & backing vocals) and Eric (drums and backing vocals) have been the solid rhythm section since Gel’s inception in 2001. Their continued consistency has been vital in maintaining the group’s success and continued growth. EJ (guitar & backing vocals), who joined the group in 2006, adds a "wall of sound" with his huge guitar riffs and amazing fretwork, as well as adding his own unique vocal ability - giving the band the opportunity to showcase 3 to 4 part vocal harmonies - something not usually found in a four-piece group. Newest member "Fish" completes the package as a frontman who isn't afraid to explore new music and re-make older classics with seamless simplicity. Also a guitarist, he makes Gel sound bigger yet, giving the band a presence stronger than ever.
With their revamped lineup, ever-extensive song list, high-energy, and guaranteed good time show, Gel continue to to be one of Minnesota’s must-see bands.
